Exciting Updates from Melbourn Sports Centre! 

We’re making great progress on our refurbishment works, and while we’re not quite there yet, we’re working hard behind the scenes to bring you an upgraded sports centre experience! 

Our team is pushing towards a grand reopening around Easter, and we can’t wait to welcome you back to enjoy our brand-new gym, refreshed facilities, and improved spaces.

Thank you for your patience and support – we promise it’ll be worth the wait! Stay tuned for more updates, and we’ll share an official reopening date soon.

ASTRO-TURF, MACADAM PITCHES, SPORTS HALL AND GYMNASIUM
It’s been really nice to welcome back many clubs and groups to our outdoor and indoor courts, including Football, Netball and Archery Clubs. We have also welcomed back Jazzercise on a Saturday morning and a few Badminton groups too. Any one wishing to hire any of our courts please contact info@melbournsportscentre.org

Melbourn Squash Club
We are pleased to announce that we have once again teamed up with Melbourn Squash Club to enable casual community bookings to recommence from Monday 3rd February.
Current court availabilities:
Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 5:00-9:00pm - last court start time is 8:20pm
Saturdays and Sundays: 8:00am to 12:00pm - last court start time is 11:20am.

October 14th

We are pleased to bring you an update on the swimming pool progress. The repairs to the swimming pool

are coming on well. At the moment we still have no firm date of opening but we are working towards it being
around January 2025.

September 30th

Work on the swimming pool continues apace.The new tiles are starting to go down and we're beginning to get an idea of how things will look when everything is completed.

August 30th 

Outside facilities are now back open! We were delighted to welcome back our first returning customers last night and look forward to other groups coming on board over the next couple of weeks. It's fantastic to be welcoming people back on site again.

August 5th 

We are very pleased to be able to announce that we are now in the process of opening up the astro-turf, tennis / netball courts, school sportshall and school gymnaisum. At this initial stage we are only able to take block bookings from existing customers - all of whom should have been contacted by now to see if they want to return. Our next steps will be to organise the ability to open up to ad-hoc, one-off bookings - we will update here once that is in place.

To help us with the re-opening we are delighted to welcome back Graham Johnson-Mack whose experience and knowledge of the sports centre are proving invaluable in supporting our aim to get everything functioning again as soon as possible.

The work on our pool is going well with an estimated end date of October half term:

April 26th

This messsage was sent to parents and carers:

We are writing to inform you of an update regarding Be Active Melbourn Ltd, the company that manages Melbourn Sports Centre.

This evening, Be Active Melbourn Ltd has communicated that the company has ceased trading and will be undergoing liquidation.

Consequently, Melbourn Sports Centre and associated facilities will be closed from today due to circumstances beyond the school's control. This news is met with great disappointment by us, and we understand it will be equally disappointing to you, our valued centre users, and the local community.

Melbourn Village College and The Cam Academy Trust are now committed to exploring alternative solutions for the future of the sports centre and facilities. We will keep you updated on any developments.

Below is the statement from Be Active Melbourn Ltd:

“Unfortunately, Be Active Melbourn Ltd has had to cease trading and will be going into liquidation shortly – PEM has been instructed to assist the directors and in case of financial queries contact Ben Dyer at PEM on 01223 728222.”

Pre-paid lessons / membership

We have had a number of enquiries from people who have paid money in advance, be that for swimming lessons or otherwise. Please note that unfortunately it is simply not in the Trust’s power to offer refunds to anyone who has paid the previous business for use of the facility before they went into liquidation, nor do we have any payment records from before the closure. Anyone who believes that they might be owed money should contact PEM on 01223 728222 who have overseen the closure process on behalf of BeActive.
